1992 MS70 ANACS Silver Australian Kookaburra

This coin was first introduced in 1990, and then the 1992 Silver Australian Kookaburra was only the third coin issued in the celebrated Silver Australian Kookaburra Series.

The Kookaburra being one of only a very few pure silver coins in the world to change the design from year to year. The results of this annual change is how these fascinating birds are depicted, together with a very limited production at the Perth Mint, because of this the Australian Kookaburra has now become one of the most sought after silver coins of all time.

On the 1992’s reverse (tail) design depicts a mother kookaburra facing to the left, perched on a flowery branch with berries, craning its neck.

The obverse (face) of the coin depicts a Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England in a crowned profile. The artist who created this iconic portrait of the queen is Raphael Maklouf.

Graded a perfect MS70 this gorgeous coin is minted in a stunning ‘reverse-proof’ finish, this meaning the background of the Kookaburra is frosted while the images themselves are rendered in a mirror like finish, making them catch the light for more enhancement, which is the opposite of US proof coins.

Each of these coins have a face value of $1.00AUS and contains one ounce 0.999 fine silver.
