Improve Time Management for YOUR Work From Home MLM Business
I do a lot of coaching for network marketers and the number one thing I help them with is with improving time management. Something I always tell them is their success will be dictated by their time management. If you are trying to build your work from home mlm business, this post may point out exactly what you are not making what you could be making in regards to income.
This is Guaranteed to NOT Make Any Money
Studying. Setting up your system. Reading eBooks. Don’t get me wrong, I do ALL of those things myself but I am very clear that THAT STUFF DOESN’T MAKE ME MONEY! I am not instructing you NOT to do these things but I am saying don’t spend all damn day doing those things. In the phenomenal book called “Crush It” by Gary V, he explains how he spends a lot of time on his social media stuff but it’s done between the hours of 9pm and 3am. Not all of us can go on a few hours sleep every single day but here are some suggestions for you to improve time management.
Do the non-income producing activities during off-hours
I do the majority of my reading eBooks, watching videos, etc during the hours before 8am or after 10pm. Now some of you reading this may be thinking “Ray, you don’t understand, I work ALL day and then I am dead-ass tired when I get home”. You know what? I do understand and if you EVER want to change that, you need to make some sacrifices. Here is a quote I posted on my facebook yesterday:

If you want to assure never changing your situation, then keep doing what you are doing and voila, it will work like a charm everytime.
Sooo, how should I spend my time?
When you are desiring a larger income from your work from home mlm business, know that you do NOT get paid to study, straighten your desk or clean the house. You get paid for 2 things, retailing and recruiting. Spend the majority of your time, especially the “prime time” doing prospecting. Prospecting can be for people interested in purchasing your product or prospecting for people interested in having their own work from home mlm business.
If you want to drastically change your bank account, right now, improving time management is the key. If you improve time management to ensure you are prospecting each day not just burying your head in the books and webinars, your bank account will thank you!

This is a VERY common scenario. I run into this question all the time. “Ray, you don’t understand, I have tried 12 of these companies and my friends and spouse have seen me fail at these every single time, How To Build Your Newest MLM Even When You Failed in the Past how can I possibly promote this newest mlm differently?” This blog is especially for those who have seen failure in network marketing and are considering or having a go at it again.
I have worn out my warm market…
I hear this often. MOST of the time, this is simply not accurate but let’s look into this common excuse. Do you realize that if you were properly trained you would NEVER wear out your warm market? Let me give you my brief story.
Ray, I’ve Gotta talk to you about making extra money, said Kyle
Feb. 2004: My friend Kyle called me and told me he was in a network marketing company and that this juice was the most amazing thing ever, he felt fantastic, it had helped a lot of people and so on. At the time I was doing well as a real estate investor. My friend was real adamant on this juice thing so I told him I would buy the juice, BUT I WOULD NEVER DO THE BUSINESS! After studying how network marketing worked and how the residual income worked, I was hooked. I worked my butt off and hit what the company called Ruby Executive in 87 days and then was surprised to find out that my first quarter I was #2 in the company as what they called a “starmaker”, that means I had helped a lot of people get their first 2 people in and I was the second-most person in the company as far as the number of people I had helped (at the time out of 600,000 people).
Sooo, what happened?
The compensation plan for this company was one of the old-school binary systems. You know, one that only paid you off your lesser leg and then paid you bonuses based on what level you were, which, was also based on your weaker leg. The first 3 months I had been able to perfectly balance then after that I saw 9 six figure earners spring out of my one leg (I built both myself, this was not spillover) but, I could not get my lesser leg to grow no matter what I did so my checks went down, down, down. I worked my heart out for 2 whole years at this, never hit a new level and also noticed none of my team hit any new levels either. Bummer right? Well, it taught me 2 valuable lessons. #1. Getting in during momentum is good but better to get in BEFORE momentum will make you a whole lot more money and #2 never, ever, do an old school binary again.
What the heck does this have to do with me?
Everything. I worked that business for two years talking to every single person that came within 3 feet of me. The company did NOT allow internet marketing so I did not know how to do that but every warm or even slightly warm person that came around me got pitched the juice! Even after coming out of the gate real strong and looking like a promising forever income, I never made more than $10,000 in a month in that company. I never won a vacation, certainly was nowhere near the top income earners.
I rolled the dice again, and if you ever do, this is what you have to understand
Remember, I loved the concept of network marketing. I love the fact that for very, very little risk you can get paid on the efforts of others and create an unlimited profit center. When I saw my current company I knew it was what I was looking for. A better comp plan, a better product and the chance to get in BEFORE momentum.
But, I didn’t just “join”
I didn’t just join, I was determined to put everything I had into this company. I decided that I was NOT going to just make a little bit of money, I wanted to make stoopid, ridiculous, travel around the world money. But, guess what I did…
I started with my warm market.
Most of you know me as an Internet marketer but I started with the SAME warm market I had beaten over the head with juice the prior 2 years. But I changed up my approach. Being that I believed in what my product was and I knew it was better, I walked with confidence. When I called my warm market that I had brought into the other company or had at least pitched them the other company, I did it in a very non-pushy, non-chasing way. Here’s what I said (and what you can say too)
Hey ____, this may or may not interest you but I just got involved in a new company that I think has a great product and has perfect timing. If you are interested I can send you a little video, if not, no big deal.
What do you think of that script? Simple. Non-Chasing. It tells them, Look, I am going to build this with or without you, I’d love to do it with you. If you roll the dice again and are trying to build your newest mlm, don’t half step. Don’t walk around with your weapon on safety. Don’t let others take your power. Don’t get discouraged. You failed before? SO WHAT. Big Deal. Get over yourself. If you focus on what you have failed at, you will only fail at this one too. You can do it and you deserve it!
Oh yeah, what happened to my rolling the dice once again?
In 12 months:
- I won a 5 day trip to St Kitts
- I won a 3 day cruise to the Bahamas
- I won a 7 day cruise through the Caribbean
- I won a 4 day stay in Atlantis
- I became the #1 income earner in my company
- Oh yeah, I won a BMW 7 series that they are awarding to me this weekend!

If you are to succeed in network marketing recruiting, there are 4 “Why’s” you have to know. The common one that everyone talks about is why do you want success or why do you want to get out of your job. In this article I am going to talk about the often overlooked but perhaps more important other 3 why’s.
Who Has To Know the First Why?
You do. The why that about every speaker and all the network marketing books talk about is why do you want to succeed. I do agree with knowing your why, certainly, but you should understand that most people have their own issues on their mind so you need to have more why’s than just your why. This first why, coupled with action, can make you successful and is something that can get you past the days where everyone tells you no (and if you have not had those days, you just have not been in long enough). What makes you work that extra hour? What makes you miss that night out with the guys or girls to work on your business? A powerful why helps to justify making sacrifices now for added freedom and pleasure later.
It’s Not Just About You, Remember, you are a Marketer. Why Network Marketing Now?
A good marketer does not sell, they solve problems. The second why I want to talk to you about that you should have down pat is “Why is it a good time for Network Marketing?” I have never seen so many people getting into network marketing, and I can tell you a big reason is whoever brought them in did a good job at this “why”. Here are some of the reasons why I think now is a good time for network marketing: (Feel free to borrow)
1. Several industries are taking big pay cuts.
- Teachers – Teachers are taking a punch to the face with their incomes. The most important job in the country of teaching our children is being hammered with budget and pay cuts. Perhaps a bigger problem is the massive amounts of layoffs based on tenure, not performance. This breeds a big problem in teaching. The way they construct layoffs is almost solely based on tenure, not performance. So, if you are a brand new teacher getting amazing results, you are much more likely to lose your job than the teacher who stopped caring 20 years ago. This is not to say all veteran teachers are no good but, this type of policy based on tenure not performance breeds a base level problem that affects generations of children.
– Healthcare professionals – I am NOT trying to be political here, but, the proposed changes in health care are creating more worry amongst the competent than probably anything that has happened in US history. It was interesting that when Greece was trying to get bailed out they promised to cut government run health care to reduce their deficit. The problem I see is with the proposed changes a lot of hospitals have cut their aids, thereby making nurses work much harder. And, now that as a whole every health care person will be making less money, more work for less pay usually keeps the incompetent but chases away the good ones into another industry. Doctors and health care professionals are typically well respected and well connected, so, they make perfect prospects for network marketing and it so happens it is the best time in history to approach them. (feel free to give me your opinion on this by commenting at the bottom)
- Real Estate – I came from the real estate industry as an investor. It started getting tougher for me when the banks stopped many of their programs for investors and seeing the writing on the wall, I got out. Now, I have several friends still making good money in real estate but I see a whole lot more people working harder than they have ever worked for less money than they ever have made. Another recipe for the good ones getting out and into other opportunities.
2. What is everyone MOST interested in – I believe the number one thing people are after right now is security. This means that most people are more risk adverse than they have been in the past. They may decide against that $100,000-$250,0000 franchise fee they looked at a couple years ago and just simply not do anything. Network marketing opportunities represent a very low risk way to create a business that has unlimited profit potential, they play very well into today’s economy and the mindset of others.
Why Should They Sign Up With You?
Now, reading that headline made some of you cringe, I know it and you know it. Do not misunderstand this why. I am not saying you have to tell everyone around you why they should sign up with you, but, you need to know this at a core level. I ask people this all the time, “Would you sign up with you”? You have to be able to answer that yes or you will constantly struggle at network marketing recruiting. Good leaders that also sponsor a lot of people know why they are a good sponsor so you should too. Here is a checklist of what, in my opinion, makes up a good leader that, if you do, can make you a good one too:
- Do you train your people?
- Are you constantly prospecting and practicing what you preach?
- Do you look for ways to help your downline?
- Are you willing to do 3 way calls?
If you do not do those items above, your problem may be that you do not believe you are someone of value that people should sign up with, which, is the problem more times than not with people who are struggling in their network marketing recruiting.
The Last Why. Why is Your MLM the Best Network Marketing Company?
So, you have your why which is why you want to succeed, now you realize it is important to be able to answer why now is the best time for network marketing, now you have to understand and be able to share why your company is the best network marketing company. In the past this may not have been that important as there were so few. Most of the people you talked to 20 years ago were either not aware of what network marketing was or had only heard of one company so this why wasn’t that big of a deal. Now, with thousands and thousands of multi level marketing companies out there, you have to be able to tell your prospect why your company is the best option. This is especially important when you are talking to other marketers. When I look at an opportunity, I immediately think about the marketing points. Not trying to pitch you my business, but, let me give you some examples. My primary is Numis Network. What excited me about Numis was all the powerful marketing points this company has. This is what I saw:
- A refreshing product that had never been done (Gold and Silver Graded Coins)
- An untapped $100 Billion industry (That is $11 Million an hour) that had no competition with any other MLM

So, when I am talking to another marketer, like me, I drop all those marketing points on them and they immediately see major opportunity with how they are going to market Numis. There is a great book out there called “Differentiate or Die” by Jack Trout that talks about the importance of being different and unique. What makes your mlm unique? Why is yours the best network marketing company? You have to be able to answer this why if you want to master network marketing recruiting.
